It is with profound sadness that the Board of the CGAI shares the news that Executive Chairman James Kavanagh passed away on March 26, 2021.

The board and members of the CAGI are deeply saddened at James’s untimely passing and our thoughts are with his extended family and friends, especially his wife Bláthnaid, daughter Megan and son Aaron, and we extend our deepest sympathies to them.

James was incredibly civic minded and brought a wealth of experience and wisdom to the role as well as he did to many other organisations to which he so generously gave his time. It was a great privilege for the members of the board both past and present to get to know him personally and to work alongside him over the last few years. James showed exceptional leadership in filling the role of Executive Chairman.

James was known and respected for his achievements and championing and demanding exceptionally high standards in Irish business, and we would like to pay tribute to his contribution to the business landscape and his determination for everyone to ‘put good governance front and centre of everything they do’.
